I bought size L (12-14) for my skinny 10 year old daughter. Her circumference is 51 inches, which falls in the L category on the size chart. Aside from the girth, she would need a size down, but experience has taught me to use the swimwear girth size. The fully tensioned belts were too big. tight on her shoulders.I can only conclude that the size chart is wrong and also because there is no size 12-14 I got. and if in doubt, increase another.
