This item will not work with the iPad Air 2. Based on my research, this product requires an Apple camera adapter in order to work. I returned it. I hope this works for you. Make sure you research what is required to get the necessary accessories to make this work. My iPad stopped connecting to WiFi and I was hoping that would work. Unfortunately it didn't work.
