The distance is a little long, if I accidentally put my fingers and get under the fan, every child will definitely have the same problem. The noise level is ok if you like white noise, otherwise sleeping next to it is a bit annoying. It turns all the way around but I have to try and tighten the screws as it is loose and won't stay in the position you position it. Basically, just watch your fingers.
