Great little fan with batteries

I bought my first one and installed it in my patio gazebo to power my wind chimes here in the windless North Carolina foothills. Worked great for that. Low speed aimed at the bell button from about 2ft away and provided a gentle breeze for casual calls. Then I found a second, even better use! I used the first one to start a fire in my fireplace. I'm more like the father in A Christmas Carol about the fire than about the stove. Fire needs fuel, heat and air. More air, more fire. A great way to start a fire, large or small. Wildfires in California and Oregon are so devastating because of the high winds, but I digress. Well, I got a little carried away and brought the fan a little closer to the fireplace door - and melted the guard. Sigh. So I got another one. I'm a pretty smart guy now - I won't do that again. With this I attach it to the armrest of a folding chair about 18 inches from the fireplace (mine has an open grate on the sides, not closed so it doesn't get in the way of keeping the fire going), set it low, and light it on. A gentle breeze keeps the fire going, like the draft in a good fireplace. Considering my 2500 mAh - milliamp hour not to be confused with mwh - milliwatt hour on some batteries (amps are better. 2500 mAh @ 3.7V = 9200 mWh.) In the last few evenings I've found that these batteries at least power the fan for 3-4 hours. I can run the fan constantly for at least two evenings before charging it again. Notice one point about 18650 batteries and these fans. Some batteries have a tit on the positive end. Actually, the picture shows this one fan one. But the tolerances in the battery box are so tight that you really need to have a "no-name" battery, which many of the 18650s are. I'm guessing that's what came with the fan, but I have a few that are in constant use and now they're all messed up, so I'm not sure. Regarding the pictures - 2 questions. The fan on the mat next to the caterpillar won't last long there. And shown as a table fan - not sure how stable it will be on a non-slip base. It's a bit difficult. It is more suitable for cases where it is attached to something. In any case I like the fan for my use - I don't have a stroller but I assume it will be fine for walking a baby. The clip is strong, the spring is strong, and the gimbal allows you to adjust the direction of movement. I'll get another one if this one ever fails. Now that I know it will melt if kept near a roaring fire hopefully it will last.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • This is driving me insane
