a 'different' kind of warranty

updated 19 jan 2020:hurom honored the warranty. they paid to ship the broken unit back, they paid to send a new one to me. motor should not have died in less than a year of use, but at least hurom handled the replacement process well.updated 24 dec 2019:motor died. totally silent. if this happens with a company that has a real warranty (like Omega), not an issue. the Hurom warranty is 'different'. they told me their warranty covers two things:1) defective unit or parts sent to customer at time of original purchase2) if there is a recall on a partfor #1 above, Ebay already covers it. receive something defective via Ebay prime, it can be returned easily via Ebay. for #2, ever know of a juicing company to recall a part? with Omega, when product is under warranty, Omega pays for the new part, and customer pays for shipping. with Hurom, customer has to pay for BOTH the part and the shipping, and the parts are expensive. that's called a warranty? a ten cent O ring type seal broke on the Hurom. the charge for 'warranty' repair was usd 70+ for a new bowl and the shipping. will find out in the coming week what the charge will be for 'warranty' repair on the dad motor.original review:i believe this is the first single augur vertical juicer with a self feeder. the self feeder works well. i have used an omega vertical juicer for years, loved it, and the warranty service is good (15 years on the omega). the motor gave out recently, and i switched to the hurom. except for the self-feeder, the two machines are similar, and make a similar quality of juice. can do all vegetables and all fruits on both machines. the hurom build feels slightly sturdier with thicker, stronger plastic and the omega has what i believe is a design flaw that prevents the auto wiping blades from turning after a few months of usage (relies on a notch instead of a gear to turn the auto wiping blade). the self feeder on the hurom makes a big difference, load a bowl, flip a switch, the machine takes care of the rest. i'm guessing in future generations, the bowl will get larger, and someday will not need to cut the produce into small pieces before loading into the bowl. you can get same quality juice with a lot less expensive machine, but if you have the budget, the self feeder makes for a more pleasant juicing experience.

Pros
  • Taste & Pulp Control: We’ve spent decades perfecting our juicers for taste. Juice created with a Hurom slow juicer is fresh, unprocessed and pure. The H-AI Slow Juicer also comes with a control lever and a fine and coarse strainer that allow you to control the amount of pulp to suit your taste.
Cons
  • The juicing process can be time-consuming, requiring more patience than some users may have
