Review on TORACK Bike Storage Rack - Space Saving Vertical Bicycles Hanger Hooks for Home and Garage Organization, Wall Mount 6 Bike Rack for Indoor Use by Robert Edmondson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Solid 4 stars - could be improved.

Can 6 bikes be hung on this rack? Yes, but not as shown on the product page where all three shelf sections are mounted side-by-side and flush. It is important that each stud is centered on the wall studs or mounted on wooden panels that are attached to the wall studs. Two bikes can be placed in each section, but there must be space between the stands. This carrier system is not specially designed for bicycles. In fact, the documentation that came with the rack doesn't even mention bikes - it lists a selection of attachments and tools. It's safe to say that bikes are going to be the heaviest thing this rack system can handle, and proper setup is key to stability and safety. Hanging and removing bikes from racks requires care; If you pull the bike down, the hook may bend, break the bracket, damage the bike, or even cause injury. I don't want my younger kids to do that, so only bigger bikes are mounted in our house for older kids. Tips (also see photos): • Determine how high you need to mount the rack by measuring and looking at your tallest bike - raise it. off the ground as far as you like, paying attention to the top edge of the front wheel. The bottom of the rack should be installed 3 to 6 inches below the top of the front tire. My wall isn't finished yet, so I used the 3 inch approximation (no, I didn't measure - just by eye). • After marking the desired mounting position/height, use a spirit level to draw a line on the two bolts. Place the post on the line and center it between the posts. Use the stand as a template to mark the screw locations. • See how close the screw holes are to the edge? Yes, that's my biggest gripe with this product - it needs to be about an inch wider for a standard wall mount. Be sure to pre-drill these holes so the screws thread straight in and the studs don't split! • After installing the stand, spread the two large hooks on each end as far apart as possible. • Bikes of different sizes should be mounted sideways. - Side by side on the same stand to minimize interference from paddles and oars. I'm rating this 4 stars vs 5 because the racks aren't wide enough for optimal stud mounting and I'm a little concerned that the weight of the bike might affect the design. limits.
