the car was over 16 years old and finally the air conditioning didn't work well. The tow truck said the alternator wasn't charging properly. We lugged it home, I attached a meter and watched some YouTube videos on how to check the voltage level with and without an AC load. In fact, that seems to be the problem. The battery seems to be normal, but it's not enough for peak loads. It was very difficult to get the old one out with the jammed collar nuts. I had to use a dremel to cut them off and replace the nut on the long bolt. When I was done I cranked it up and turned on the AC and the problem was gone. Everything works. The car is old and falling apart. We keep going until it falls apart. Tires and brakes cost more than the car.
