My 5 year old daughter had no problem with this activity other than getting her gems out of small purses. My 10 year old loved it. It's good to keep them focused and to coordinate the small movements of the fingers. The only thing I didn't understand was that it was reversible and the instructions weren't very clear. You have to be very careful to clean it or the glue will deteriorate and start peeling off. Also, I wouldn't buy it for storage as the lack of sealant around the sticky adhesive just attracts dust. You could probably apply one if you wanted to, but it wasn't worth the trouble. Maybe decorations or ornaments to hang. A little rag wax thing, although it works. Using a katana tool if you have one is a lot easier and you don't have to constantly rub the wax with a stick.
