Works well if you want to put the strap back on your belt without having to look for a place to attach it or you can use magnets to attach the strap to a metal workbench or similar attach. The magnets are strong enough for stationary applications like all day standing and cutting, but after 2 jogs the weight of the band ripped them off the base and the band fell off. The clip that attaches to your belt is no better than a belt clip, so doesn't increase retention during fast movements. I think it's good for what it's designed for, but it won't give you the increase in retention you're hoping for in active or air applications.
