The only reason I bought it was because a poor creature had died somewhere and the room smelled awful. You can try to ventilate the room. Although we checked part of the wall and couldn't find the source and didn't want to cause further damage to the house, the next step was to buy an air freshener and spray it all over. Disinfect all curtains and bedding, wash all clothing and apply a generous amount of fabric softener. I have these cheap air freshener canisters. baking soda on the carpet. Even though the bed smelled like Febrise, a fabric softener for clothes, you still smell that unpleasant odor when you open the door. So I tried it as a last resort, put it on for 30 minutes, went to work and came back 8 hours later. The smell was gone, I smelled the ozone when I opened the door on the stairs and I smelled a huge smell of ozone in my room. No more nasty dead creature smell mixing with everything else to cover it! However, everything smelled of ozone. All the fever I used was gone, clothes, curtains, blankets, pillows, all the smell of ozone permeated everything. Even after opening the window for 2 hours, the smell of ozone remained. Tried Febreze again on the bed, ozone still sort of quelled the smell. I won't shoot a star, it did what is described but I can't tell if I like the smell of ozone, it has a metallic smell. odor instead of a neutral odor. I just aired the room every day for a few days. I think I'll throw everything in the laundry to see if I can get rid of the ozone smell. Note: I had the tower fan running when I turned on the ozone generator. To try to circulate the air I don't think it was necessary because now when I turn it on I can smell the ozone odor explosion. I have discussed this ozone generator or medical grade air purifier but only went with it because a friend said they use this at the hotel as some people smoke or have a strong smell of smoke when checking out. You let this run in the room for 10 minutes and then leave an hour or two later to open the window. They swear by it. Most guests don't seem to mind. Some do, and if the metallic smell doesn't bother you then you should be fine, otherwise I'd use this as a last resort.
