I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet, but it's basically a cross between two of the most comfortable shoes: heels and espadrilles. I've had dozens of pumps and several pairs of espadrilles over the years, but only Sperry has attempted to pull this off. They are very, very light. Unlike traditional espadrilles made from hemp or sisal rope, this is an ultra-light synthetic material that can even be waterproof. They would dry out quickly. The upper is made of elastic neoprene. I think they're even kind of lighter than most flip flops I have. The grip also feels quite good. I see them being used almost like slippers inside and like regular boats outside. socks? Do not even think about it. In my opinion they should be worn barefoot. If this is your main summer shoe I can see how you can use it in the summer depending on how much you walk. I see them defeating many people.
