The SD card slot is very tight but honestly I like the secure fit. I'm planning to use it with my iPad during my wedding next month but just did a quick test on my phone . I have an old iPhone 7 with software version 14.6 and was able to quickly and easily transfer images from an SD card (images taken with a Canon 5D Mark IV) to my phone. I opened the photo album app by plugging it in and inserting the SD card and the import icon appeared at the bottom of the screen. After successfully migrating in this way, I did it successfully using Adobe LR application and dumped the images directly to my LR storage. This will make my life a lot easier. Also, I was intrigued by the guide, which included instructions on the different versions of the software for Apple.
