I've been buying keyless keyboards for a while to make sure I have the same board quality I'm used to. Unfortunately, I pressed the shutter button here. The keyboard itself seemed fine to me. The buttons felt good, the board was a good weight, it worked when plugged in, and the glow was good color and brightness. What didn't work was the software. You see, the board doesn't have its own controller loaded. Strange right? I was thinking the same thing. You need to go to the manufacturer's website and download external RGB control software. Bad decision number one. However, the software is not actually on the website. It's in the Microsoft Store. Bad decision number two. I was worried, but I just dropped a hundred dollars on the board, so I played along. The microsoft store doesn't seem to allow you to download this app using a work account even though it was a work machine and I used my work account to download other apps. You risk this issue if you use an unaffiliated third party to host a critical component of your product. So I had to create a new account with my personal email just to try and get the light to work on this keyboard. If that sounds like more work than the keyboard takes, you and I are on the same page. But then again it seemed like a good board so I REALLY wanted it to work. I created an account with Microsoft and never expected it to be involved in my HYPERX deal, and here we are. After jumping through all those stupid Microsoft hoops, I had the software, but it didn't recognize the keyboard. Remember that I used the specified keyboard throughout the process described here. It was very connected and creating emails but the program couldn't see it and insisted I connect a HyperX device. I googled the fixes and tried all the recommended things. Admin mode, creating a loophole in Defender and all that. I'm a software developer so I know how to do all this, but most customers really shouldn't ask to learn high-level computer administration to find a workaround for their broken find keyboard software Unfortunately, these fixes didn't work. The software still can't tell that the keyboard exists, so it doesn't give me power over it. At this point we've already exceeded the reasonable effort quota, but I'm stubborn, so I found an old version of the software and tried again. No luck so I repeated the whole process on two other computers just to be sure. When none of my attempts worked, I gave up and sent the board back. Now I have to wait for another keyboard from another brand to finish shipping. If you don't mind the default rainbow wave effect and never expect to want to change it, this seems like a decent keyboard. If you want all the features to work the way you paid for them, this product is not for you.
