With a small Kohler engine, removing the head was easy. This prevents metal chips. Never used, only heard about it. Well it wasn't difficult. Insert a smaller diameter tap into the "old" thread, this will help make the alignment accurate to 90°*. And then continue working as soon as it reaches a larger diameter in the faucet, there too slowly and with lots of lubricant (any will do). I used a plug to start a repair thread into the new hole, it was difficult to get to. Then I finished "adjusting" it so that it was a little below the surface of the head and hit it several times with the included "expander" tool, which takes the serrated top threads and locks them in place . super easy. If you can't remove the head, use the thickest grease you can get to ensure the grease picks up as much of the old metal as possible.
