Edit: For everyone else complaining about the remotes not working, don't forget to (1) remove the plastic on the remotes batteries to make them work, and ( 2) You MUST press the button on the side of the remote control before it will work. If you move the remote up and down without pressing the side button FIRST, you will think the remote is not working. Relief work around my property. Description: After the strap on my Polaris 1000S caused charging issues in the dark of thirty in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night, I realized I needed a winch. This ORCISH 12V 4500lb claimed to fit both ATVs and UTVs so I went with it and bought it along with a Super ATV winch mounting plate for my Polaris 1000S. I was able to use the included hardware that came with the Super ATV winch plate to install the winch plate. In my case, I was able to install the winch plate without removing anything, simply lifting the front end off the ground so the wheels and front suspension sagged out of the way. I also installed two Super ATV Adapters that hold the Orcish Key. Regardless of how these bits were set, I had to make the holes that the key attaches to oval because the orcish key that came with it was too short for the long track and too long for the short track. In one photo of the rail I have the cover that came with the Super ATV not installed with its winch mount so you can see the included rack mount with Polaris OEM hardware, and in another photo you can see the Super ATV's faceplate. installed with a winch mount. Orc Key. When installing the winch I had to lengthen the lower left shock mounting bolt to have enough room to get into the winch. I was able to use the included hardware to mount the winch to the SuperATV winch mounting plate without drama. Looking at the schematic I couldn't find a box for the remote control so I removed four screws from the back of the relay. box and found that the unsealed remote control was also in the winch relay box. It would be nice if Orcish drew a dotted line around the relay and radio receiver on the supplied schematic to show that both components are in the box and we didn't miss anything. The wiring in the battery cables was immediately apparent. that the supplied red and black battery cables were too short. $63.00 later at my local Napa and I had two 9ft cables and two different styles of 6GA eyelet terminals that I needed to make my own custom length battery cables. When considering where to mount the black box, I ignored the standard Polaris mounting point on the firewall because the Ork black box is larger, so I decided to mount the box directly under the power distribution bar where I put my hands on both could reach pages. and also a place for my drill. I had to use my own hardware to mount the control box as the hardware that came with it was too long and didn't have lock nuts. In the photo I provided you can only see the top 5mm jam nut on top of the 5mm bolt behind the wiring. Once the relay remote box was in place, I crimped the correct size terminals for the relay and routed the hot and ground wires. through the firewall, through a hole in the front center hump, and then generally through the factory strapping, they reached the battery. I could run the wire through the firewall to the center ledge, but I needed a way to secure the winch battery cables with vibro ties without having to drill additional holes in my firewall. be cut properly and these leads are on the cheap side, they need to be crimped with the smallest battery wire crimper I have for my battery crimping tool. But it worked as you can see in the other photo. After connecting the wiring to the included winch control box, I verified that the winch was working, then removed and disconnected the control wires and cut the control harness long enough to reach the dash while discarding the ATV handlebar control switch and bracket. I then installed a sleeve over the remaining control circuit harness, wrapped it in 3M tape, crimped the connectors, installed the new winch switch to the dash and zipped everything up. I really had to get a halyard washer from the SuperATV front winch mounting plate kit to match it to the track. No big deal: snap washer, trial fit, rattle black paint and bolt on. In hindsight, this ORCISH 12V 4500lb winch is an ATV winch that can be adapted to a UTV and additional installation is required for the winch to work. at UTV. Regardless, the winch (despite lasting a whopping 72 hours on my RZR) seems worth it. Check out the photos I've included.
