Thick metal handles are designed for a secure grip.

They are designed to give the filter a good grip! The handles are quite thick and nicely covered with non-slip plastic. The hinge can be adjusted to accommodate different diameter filters - both tong sets. I really expect them to last many years and if I don't lose them this will be the last set I will ever need.
