DOA. UPDATE: They fixed the problem

Original, 1 star rating: The remote (much needed for everything from volume to everything else) doesn't work. It was DOA. I have contacted the manufacturer but have not yet received a reply. I'll be happy to change my rating if this issue can be resolved. UPDATE: I got a reply from the manufacturer and they were able to send a working remote control. Now the system works as it should. This DVD player has a bright screen, intuitive controls and a remote control. PROS: - Bright screen - Dual screens - All cables/adapters included - Does what it says on the tin. - Can be attached with a permanent clip or "temporary" Velcro (which we use in a more permanent way) - Screens have built-in speakers - Screens have built-in batteries CONS: - Volume can only be adjusted using the remote control. No remote control = no on-screen volume control. Don't lose your remote control! Even at maximum volume, the player is quite quiet. Outputting audio through the AUX cable didn't entirely solve the problem. For reference, we typically listen to our radio somewhere between 12pm and 11pm on our radio. Again, for reference, this range covers everything from soft music to louder music at high speeds. The DVD player must be set to volume 55-63 (MAX) to be heard! Now we could hear it, but damn it takes that much volume to hear a DVD! I'm not used to turning the radio up to that volume. Built-in speakers are useless at high speeds (see notes above about speaker volume). They may be suitable for sitting on the couch or for a quiet local ride. The volume issues were enough to give this one 4 stars instead of 5. Look, the DVD player is fine. It works. You can hear it as long as you connect the AUX cable to your car speakers and crank it up to blast. If you have an extra cable for your car, I would recommend this product. If you don't have an AUX cable for your car speakers, I would recommend looking elsewhere. One final note: I received an email from the seller stating that they 1) apologize for the problem that was removed and 2) asked Revain for a review. In the same letter I was offered a case for a DVD player. It wasn't clear to me if the bag was in exchange for a review or if it was an apology for a distant problem, but for full disclosure you need to know where I stand. My review wasn't influenced by the free bag (which I haven't received yet).

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Requires an outlet
