I didn't take this stone thinking it would be the best, I paid $13 for it. I went the cheap route because I just needed a cheaper sharpening stone that I could keep in the kitchen at work and not worry too much if something happened to it. It seemed slow to sharpen, so it's alright, alright. But the problem is on the 1000s side, after about 10 minutes of use, small white dots started to appear. I'm not sure what they really are, but they are difficult. During sharpening, the blade of the knife caught on these small points, so I was worried it would do more harm than good. I was hoping those little dots would wear away, but the longer I went the more the blade hit. picture attached
