When it works, it works very well. I videotaped my swing with the product, drew the swing plane lines over the video and found that the resulting swings were very close to plane. I've also found that lots of product swings lead to "muscle memory". I don't know how long it lasts without an update. But there is a problem. As mentioned in many other reviews, the laser does not stay on. It expires after each hit. Mine came with a small plastic clip that seems to prevent accidental shutdowns. It can be used to hold down the switch button, which prevents the laser from turning off. I don't know how long it will be before the clip breaks or I lose it. The concept is very good. I wish the performance was a little better.
