Protects the rear from dirt. I always load bedding and chicken feed in the back, not to mention dogs. It stays clean and washes off easily. Not too heavy so I can move it around if I want to. I bought this because I don't need a hard, inflexible trunk liner that I have to clean or move to adjust the seat. I just always leave it in the car. It is perfect for the entire back with the rear seats folded. With the rear seats up, I just fold up the upholstery and it stays tidy. I like his looks. Not sure if keeping large dogs in the back works well. My dogs sit on the screen and pull to break it and sneak around. I have a dog guard so they can still see through the gate and use the air conditioning. Not sure how waterproof it is as I've never had anything wet in it. Four months in the car. Good that it can be washed, if it gets very dirty I can look into the machine. still looks new.
