Good rechargeable floor and carpet sweeper

My husband and I bought one of these Shark cordless carpet sweepers a few years ago. At the time I told my husband not to leave it on all the time. Just charge it up and unplug it until it needs to be charged again. Around the same time I had multiple knee surgeries and was unemployed for a long time so my husband did housework which was very helpful so I couldn't scold him for putting the carpet brush away. He died suddenly last fall and I moved into a smaller room that had just had light beige carpets installed (oh, difficult to maintain). I have a larger vacuum that I use weekly, and cleaners come in every few weeks to do the deep cleaning, and I've wanted to use the Shark regularly to clean the litter box and kitchen, and for a quick jog on the carpet, especially the fluff and such. which are more noticeable on a light carpet. I found what I didn't want, which was that the battery drained very quickly every time I used the Shark. I tried another brand whose name is synonymous with floor care. I had a sweeper for a week and a half and it stopped working. I've tried troubleshooting and loading to no avail. After reading some of the reviews I realized that others were having the same issue with this particular sweeper so I decided to return to Shark. I checked the reviews which were a bit confusing. Some reviewers said it didn't get along well with baseboards, while others said it did. Some said it just lifts forward, and when you pull it back it lays what you just swept back on the ground. Well I've been using it for about a week and here is my experience with it. The instructions said what I already knew: charge it fully, then leave it unplugged until it needed to be charged again, which I did. It works well on hardwood floors in the kitchen, tiled bathroom floors, and carpeted floors elsewhere. I ran it along the skirting boards and it seemed to grip well. What I particularly noticed was that it absorbed the heat from my electric baseboard well, especially in the bathroom. I pushed and pulled him back and forth, not noticing at that point that he was putting something he had just swept back on the floor. Even during the week it runs for about 40 minutes and does not need to be charged yet. So far I'm happy with the performance. If my assessment of how well this works changes, I'll come back and update it. It also has an easier way to empty the dirt bowl than the previous Shark we owned. Some reviewers also complained about the suction power, but since this is a carpet sweeper and not a VACUUM CLEANER, I don't think it actually vacuums. Instead, there's a rotating brush that sweeps dirt into the dirt bowl. I hope this is helpful to someone as I have literally spent hours researching different sweepers to determine which one would work best for my needs. UPDATE: 5/25/15 I've been using this Shark sweeper for four months now and it works great. When I run it over baseboards or the bottom of kitchen cabinets, it works well and seems to pick everything up. I rub it over the tiredness rug in front of the sink and it soaks up nicely. My daughter and her fiancรฉ bought me a Eureka carpet cleaner (the Shark with the motor on top of the handle is a real back killer and the drip tray is too small and you have to disassemble it into 5 pieces at once). to get to the cup, and one of the filters is cardboard, so it'll be a vacuum, not that sweeper) so I don't have to use that carpet sweeper too much now. Like my original review, this sweeper is very good. In addition to the floor, it also climbs along baseboards and cupboard bottoms. I don't think he sweeps and spits. It just sweeps everything in its path and so fast that I'm glad I didn't have to pull out the dust pan, broom and sweeper, which would have taken much longer. I recommend this sweeper even more now after using it for the past four months.
