I was introduced to Kubb by a friend and I really liked him. I put it on my Christmas list but who gets a garden game for Christmas? I was so glad I finally got this one. Some of the pieces seemed a bit smaller than I remember compared to my friend's game, but they still stood up well, even in our very rough backyard, and the whole game was probably easier to carry around. . Speaking of carrying, it comes in a nice pouch. I was worried it would be like playing Tetris to put it back in my pocket, but it fits quite easily. The bag seems to be of good quality and I expect it to last a long time. All parts are made of beautiful solid wood. What sets Kubb apart is the addition of a wood matrix and a whiteboard designed for you to add your own variations. The instructions for use appear intentionally vague. That doesn't bother us; We like to create house rules. We decided to roll the dice when the block is knocked over and added a few rules to make the game progress a bit faster. For example, roll a 1 and step forward for the remaining rolls, roll a 2 and get two extra rolls, etc. This gives you the freedom to make the game quite interesting with a little creativity. When we finished, we had a lot of ideas to try next time. I also like this game in general because we can all play it together no matter how old we are. Our 4 year old made the most impressive throw, knocking over the block next to the king (or whatever it's called) without knocking it over. When we were done, someone from the winning team picked up the king and lifted it in the air like a trophy. Our guys immediately started discussing who to invite to the kubb tournament.
