I like to use a USB drive to sync important documents between my desktop and PC and Mac laptops. But it would be a disaster if anyone got hold of the data. This USB drive is a bit tricky as every time you plug it in it only opens the shared drive with the decryption app for the rest. Windows doesn't always run this application well, so you may have to start it manually. But then it's easy to give it a password the first time and provide that password in future use. After entering the password, a second USB drive with the fully decrypted volume will appear on your computer. It's superior to software solutions because it's fast thanks to hardware encryption, and more importantly, you can access the decrypted volume as a disk for any tools. I use a tool called TREECOMP (PC and Mac) that compares two directories and allows you to sync them and it works fine with this drive after you enter the password. I've used a MemoryMaster USB in the past that actually had buttons and lights but that's better because it contained a battery and eventually the battery died rendering the USB inaccessible. I don't think it's the battery.
