This muffler doesn't seem to change the sound of the vacuum cleaner itself. It only helps with the sound of air coming out of the device. Please note that you have to order an adapter kit for this. KOvo or there are 2 vacuum PVC you can use. Please note that for PVC graphics, the frome homedepot pipe has a thicker wall and will not work. The muffler is good, not great. I recommend using it due to the ease of installation and the low price compared to a central vacuum. In addition, the muffler does not wear out, so you do not have to buy a new muffler when the central vacuum cleaner wears out. You definitely don't need a silencer, but yes, I like it.
