These are pretty versatile sneakers. They look good, have good ankle and arch support. Haven't taken them running yet, but I expect they'll get the job done given their light weight. As for size, yes, you should go up about half a size. I have 8 and 8.5 fits well. I can feel the front of the shoe a bit with my toes but it doesn't cause any discomfort. I suppose if that bothers you, you can go up a full size. The toe box is really big and I can wiggle my toes easily. I wore them during the day and felt like they were ripped and stretched so not an option for a full size for me. I've worn them with thin socks, thick socks, and bare feet. All methods were equal in terms of comfort, but I preferred thick socks for added cushioning. I hope this review helps someone. (Deducted one star because the sole of my foot started to hurt after standing for a long time, but I'll add an extra star when the problem subsides.)
