When this rug came out I was very impressed. The size was perfect, not only the space to put it under the tray but also the extra space on the front and sides. The first days everything was fine, on the 4th day we noticed a snag in the middle - our two kittens and broke a hole right in the middle. Flipped it over thinking it was just because of the sticking out piece they could play with - over the next two days the edges started to loosen/chew. This is partly because the material for the carpet is thin, so I know that very well. Definitely wash, a liter from the paws pull well - two kittens have taken over. It didn't take long for us.
