This is the second Kindle Paperwhite that our family has purchased. The very first Kindle that I purchased on January 13, 2005 is still with me, in good health, and it never ceases to amaze and please me. Because the screen backlight on the new Kindle purchased by the Wife is significantly improved, the device can now be read in the bathtub without the risk of being submerged in water. Because we are not fans of the physical control buttons, we found that the reader's smooth, uncluttered surface to be an additional attractive feature when making our selection. Of course, these are entirely personal preferences. The deciding factors were the screen with a backlight and the incredibly satisfying experience of using the Kindle before this one. With an adjustable backlight, it is comfortable to read anywhere, whether it be in the evening, while lying in bed, in the park, while riding a train, or when flying on a lengthy flight. In addition, don't forget to use the case so the screen won't get scratched!
