RATING: I really wanted to buy this item as it was the highest weight class and the bracket on my previous bell was worn out. It states that it had to carry up to 48.5 pounds. Then a few weeks later they changed the rating to ยฃ40. Apparently they used to use the European rating system which is still listed on the seat but the US ASTM rating they added is only ยฃ40. So that explains the substitution. I kept it because others gave it very good reviews and the support rods are a bit thicker than my bell so I'm hoping it's a bit sturdier. What weight is actually safe. Who knows? FIT: When I finally got on the bike (Cannondale road bike) my heels were touching the sideplates on almost every hit. The bell does not have these side plates so was new to me. If your pedals are further apart then you're fine. The distance between the centers of my heels is 10.5 to 11 inches. The only way to make it work is to slide the seat almost all the way back. This makes the seat more unstable, which defeats the purpose somewhat. STABILITY: Overall I find them a bit more stable than my Bell. It would just be nice to move the baby forward and make it really stable. I can try heating the plastic screens and bending them inwards a little to fix the problem. You can glue it inside but it will look pretty bad. BELT BUCKLE MECHANISM: They have a unique magnetic buckle that requires two hands to operate so the child cannot unbuckle it. I'm an engineer and struggled with this at first, but after a few tries I figured it out. I was probably stupid and could benefit from reading the manual. It's easy enough now, but it still requires two hands so balancing the bike and unbuckling can be tricky. If you have a footrest you should be fine. The safety aspect is worth worrying about. INSTALLATION LOCK: This seems like a cool feature to prevent your seat from being stolen, but I haven't used it and I'm not sure if it's necessary. understand that I was missing on my bell. The top of the seat curves backwards to prevent the helmet from pressing the child's head down or letting them look down while riding. We weren't so lucky with my Bell. Once the eldest daughter is old enough she does well on Bell and the little one does great on Thule despite being small. It's much better for your throat and your entertainment. Looking at the ground probably made her neck stiff and dull. Overall it works very well for my 22 lb daughter but wobbles a bit when riding with a 35 lb daughter. It takes a while to get used to the sway, but it's fine now that I know what to expect after two different seats.
