I've been using this type of rule for years and I've always liked the general. In general, the rule seems pretty accurate. The hooks are nice and well etched. They're a lot thinner than my old general rule, which helps separate the lines better. What I don't like is that General is now using a less durable steel. The new rule bends easily and stays bent. It's not a problem if you never break the rules. But there are a few instances where I use a 12 inch ruler with one end curved to fit around irregularly shaped objects. My old general rule can make almost a complete circle and return to flatness. Not so with this new one. It's a shame because I bought another one because of its flexibility. It's still a good product but I wish the steel was better.
