I bought this and the gooseneck version which promised 8x magnification. Both were the same, only this one was sharper, so don't worry about the promised massive zoom. This thing is BRIGHT. It's not daylight like Ott's light due to the mini LEDs, but the light is white and spreads out for good coverage. It's also more of a hobby light. No industrial look, much lighter and smaller than most. The arm moves freely and holds the light in place. It goes down easily and comes up just as easily. It has handles to lock the lever in position but so far I haven't had to use them. I am completely satisfied with this purchase and am considering buying another one. For comparison, the lamp on the right is the Ott lamp I use for sewing. This light is much brighter.
