When I first got it my cat accepted it straight away and loved being in the cube. So I bought a second one (one for the bottom and one for the top floor). One of the reasons I chose a closed bed is because he has CKD and partly because of diarrhea. In his regular bed he would have accidents because he has plenty of room to move to his new clean side. These cubes are small and they served their purpose, he left them on the tray where he went about his business in a regular bed and then used the blanket to tuck him in. The cat stayed cleaner and so did the bed, but then he wanted to lie down on it. It's made to be crushed and turned into a regular bed, which he did and soiled it. So I would wash. Everything was fine for the first 2-3 washes, and then it jumped out again. But I noticed that he had slumped in the back, and when I looked closely I saw that the padding sewn into the side had shifted and clumped. It gave no structure to the cube. Soon all sides were like this, and it looked like a carved Halloween pumpkin that was still hanging on the porch at Thanksgiving. Soon it will no longer be in the shape of a cube, and now it's just an ordinary bed. $36 is too much for a regular bed. I wouldn't recommend this because even if you only wash it 2-3 times a month it won't last 3 months.
