Much stronger than an $8 box. This is a cube but with a separate part. My cats can't fight because of it. I imagine it like an ice rink and a skateboard hill. (If you separate two parts) My cats love the top and climb on it. He can stand being constantly scratched by two cats and only looks slightly worn. I like the nature of the balls in the slots on the sides, but it scares me that they could get their paw stuck in there and hurt themselves. I don't cut her nails because I don't. But because they are sharp it gets caught in the holes and I'm panicking they can't get free but so far we're fine.
