I've found that UV lamps can be used for more than just viewing fluorescent objects and displays. This emits strong ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 400-410 nm at an output of 50 watts. UV is generally in the 10-400nm range, with the shorter wavelengths being more damaging to DNA, so they are considered safe for home use, but still effectively illuminate reactive paints. Being closer to the visible end of the UV spectrum, they emit a little more ambient visible light than some other fluorescent UVs I've used and can tend to wash out certain colors. If you're looking for a lamp that produces less visible light this may not be the best choice, but other ambient light sources are usually available for parties. Having recently entered the world of 3D printing, I have decided to use one of the two lamps in the pack to post-cure my 3D prints. I converted an old microwave with a broken heating element to a UV curing chamber. As it already had a working timer and turntable it was perfect for the job and fairly easy to retrofit if you had the basic tools and experience with electricity. I removed the microwave emitter and its transformer and just used the wiring to power the UV lamp, which now conveniently turns on in place of the old microwave emitter. There may be alternative ways to do this if you are inexperienced with electrical wiring. So far this has been a great solution for curing my prints and the other lamp does a great job lighting all of my other black light projects. Having had issues with traditional LED spotlights failing prematurely, I will update my review if I have any issues with the reliability or durability of these. Unattractive brand name aside, this is a great pair of lights at a reasonable price of $36.99 at the time of this review.
