Shorted out after a few prints

My printer was in bad shape so it's difficult to fully attribute this to the printheads themselves, but I made about 15 prints from it before one of the printheads shorted out and shut down began to emit a burning smell. If the problem was with my printer rather than the printheads, the prints I was able to get were pretty good.
