There aren't many 12V chargers that give you what a modern Mac laptop needs. I've tried a few and they don't hold up. This one does. This has happened on several PCs over the past few years (USB-C charging has only been around for a while). I don't know if it can keep up with the latest 8 core stuff. I bet it will. I bought some of these to use when traveling in an RV. so wrong . why only four stars Well, the cable that connects to the Mac is a bit fragile. He is also irreplaceable. It's insanely long, but it doesn't really help much when the short cable fits the same (as it did for me). I've had one die so far, and I'm keeping a spare "just in case". Since I hardwired them to the van, sending them back for warranty replacement seems like overkill. They are good at that. I just replaced them to avoid going that route.
