The job of the brush is to fill the stick with detergent and then press on the udder to release the soap over the cow's head in the cleaning brush. The udder is made of soft material (silicone, rubber?) and the handle is made of hard plastic. The brush continued to leak even after I fixed the leaking base issue. It turns out that where you're squeezing the soap out there isn't a good seal, so over time the two pieces have separated and the brush seeps soap around that spot on the handle. At first I blamed my kids for the dirty soapy puddles. When I realized the brush was broken, it was too late to return it. Don't waste money.
