After I washed my 2006 Hummer H3, the message 'FWD Failure' appeared on the dashboard. Shortly thereafter I was driving a Hummer and the "AWD" light went out and I couldn't shift to 4WD. After a short drive the light came on and the error was gone. About a week later it started raining and the bug returned. I asked my local GM dealer to diagnose the problem and they said the 4WD transfer case actuator was faulty and of course they could replace the parts overnight and charge me $700 for repairs. . I asked for part numbers and they gave me the part number for this part and 19209788 for the seal. I was able to take this part and seal it to a local trusted store and only paid $300 versus $700! A: The GM dealer tried to tell me that the actuator and computer chip on the car needed to be flashed. It didn't have to be flashed - it was literally plug and play.
