Arrived broken and these are NOT standard size

These clipboards arrived smashed in and they are TINY. I thought they would be able to hold a half sheet of standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper but they cannot - they are way smaller. I'm not even sure how these can be used unless you wanted to clip a post-it stack. but why would anyone want to do that?
