I really like the metal bar that comes with it. It allows me to mount my ultrabook on it at a high angle, which makes typing in bed much easier (particularly useful if you don't use touch typing, although I suspect it makes touch typing easier too). A padded bar prevents sliding in this position (and this is one of the few laptops that does. Most of them have a much smaller bar designed for tablets and don't prevent laptops from sliding past it). That was a real selling point for me. I don't see many laptops that do this. After inserting the rod into the holes a little, they fit snugly, but are easy to remove. It's also quite spacious. The panel is removable, so if you just need a large, flat surface to do things (eat, write, etc.) this works for that too. The pad on the bottom is removable, although I'm not sure why. You can store things underneath like a kind of bag. All of the features work for tablets too, but the metal bar and padded strip make it one of the few laptops that's perfectly laptop-ready too. It's not perfect but I gave it 5 stars because I haven't seen anything better. If I had to do it all over again I would still buy this laptop.
