Tool ordered, it should be easy work. The water pump in the car was rusty/corroded, two people tried to hold the tool while turning and it still slipped off. The teeth are rounded, the water pump is worn. Was the water pump in the engine clean/not changed? Maybe it worked. Otherwise I understand why some of the reviews were 1 star. Perhaps a bracket and screws could be forged to try and hold it up. But there was no other way to get this work to work. The metal seemed quite soft and just deformed the first time. I have no idea how much force it takes to push the tool inward so it doesn't slip off in this case? Too much of. If the water pump is clean and clear this may work, but if there are signs of corrosion on the lugs that match the water pump, good luck. It seemed like a fairly easy job on the 4.6 Northstar, but this tool was too soft (cheap) to work with. Need a harder material or something to push/hold onto the pump itself. I took it to a GM dealership, they charged $250 and told me it had been changed once in the past and someone had tried to take it off. (Me, with this tool. Good luck. Car was a '94 Seville STS.) Took a lot of effort to hold that key and still slipped. Tried with a hammer/screwdriver (chisel) still wouldn't budge. In the end the tabs were torn to nothing. I'm not sure how they finally got it from the dealer (did you mention an impact wrench in some cases?). Definitely not a DIY tool if the pump is stuck.
