A bit thin. It is a layer of coarse sisal material (although much thicker than regular burlap) with an "L" velcro closure on opposite sides of the stretcher. So if you're hoping to wrap this around a table leg or something else, the only way the velcro will be perfect (and stay tight) is if it's wrapped just once and the velcro fits. Bad design choice - Velcro could have made this more versatile. Like us, he hangs around a bit and Kat doesn't like that. He's used it a few times but prefers its almost worn-out Ikea case. For my intended use, the wrap scrapers I usually get from Ikea work better, they're bigger, thicker and better value for money. d Monitor wear closely. Of course, our cat prefers other scratching posts.
