Review on Boom Conference Wide Angle 120 Degree Noise Canceling by Brenda Black

Revainrating 5 out of 5

High quality, easy to use video conferencing solution

I wanted to try this because I know Boom makes good quality webcams and that's basically what it is. It is an all-in-one video conferencing solution that combines a camera, microphone and speaker in one device. It sits upright and is about 10-12 inches tall. It looks like a Wyze camera sitting on top of a small soundbar (which has been turned to one side). It's well made and durable without being heavy, and it looks and feels good. This Boom Uno is very easy to use, you don't need any technical skills to use it. You just plug it into your Mac or PC and it works automatically, the main cable is 1.5m long but a 1.8m extension cable is included. There is a green LED that glows green when the mic is on and red when it's off. You can easily adjust the angle of the camera so that it can be tilted up when the camera is on a table and the subject is still. There are three capacitive touch buttons for volume up, volume down and mute. This is intended for use in professional settings where you have up to half a dozen people on a video call with a few other people. It features dual 360-degree omnidirectional noise-cancelling microphones with dynamic noise and echo cancellation. I tested the mics during a one-to-one video call and they did a good job of cutting out background noise like other people in my location and fan noise. I'm not in an environment where I can really test the mics to their full potential, but they seem to be doing their job well. Microphone specifications: frequency from 100 Hz to 8000 Hz, echo cancellation 256 ms, sensitivity 22 dB at 1 kHz. The camera is Full HD, 1080p with a maximum of 30 frames per second and looks great (better than on my M1 Macbook Pro). ) and can capture much more detail and the image looks better exposed. I was able to spot a few gray hairs in my mostly brown hair when I Facetimed myself live on a Mac. The camera specifications are as follows: CMOS sensor (1/2.8), 2.1 megapixels, focal length 2.2 mm, with autofocus. The speaker uses a single driver, but the size isn't listed on the data sheet on Boom's website. It can reach 94 decibels and has a frequency response of 300 to 22 kHz. The speaker sounds good for what it was designed for, which is people's voices. The people I FaceTimed sounded very clear and crisp through the Uno speaker. I think almost everyone will be happy with this, just keep in mind that it's not (obviously) designed for music streaming or anything like that. According to Boom, it is compatible with the following platforms: Zoom, Teams, Webex, Meet, Bluejeans, GoToMeeting, SkypePros+. High quality, well made product. Microphones and camera are solid and much better than an entry-level laptop or webcam. Simple plug-and-play solution for group meetings Meetings that require no setup and work flawlessly when you're messing around with tripods or trying to balance it on a laptop or monitor. Doesn't tip over easily, you have to try to knock it over. pricey considering it can only do 1080p at 30 fps
