Kitory Chef Knife - 8 inch -Warrior Series - Damascus - VG10

One of the things I like to do is order knives off Best Buy and try them out. Kitchen knives, outdoor knives, whatever. So as always I was excited to try this knife out. For reference, by standard set of knives against which I compare most things in my kitchen are my Shun Elite set.Right off the bat you get VG10 steel here, which is a steel produced in Japan and originally aimed at the Japanese knife market (note though that this knife is produced in China). It has that classic "Damascus" look, as well as something of a non-standard synthetic "G10" handle. Visually, it's actually nice and doesn't take away from the knife if you're used to having a wood handle.Ergonomic wise the styling and dynamics here are a bit different than what I'm used to; the handle is longer than most of my knives so if you have bigger hands, that's a plus. It also has a more squarish profile, if that's your preference. I don't, and usually hold my knives closer to the bolster/finger guard area, but just something to keep in mind.Nice and sharp out of the box, so I can't comment on ease of sharpening. Slices well and was comfortable to use. Overall, at this price point for VG-10, you could probably do a lot worse. Good value here.

Pros
  • It's good. Also very sharp.
Cons
  • After using it only 2 times, the blade became BENT and CRACKED.A TOTAL WASTE of MONEY.
