Review on ๐Ÿ“ Garmin Drive 51 USA LM GPS Navigator System: Lifetime Maps, Spoken Directions, Driver Alerts, TripAdvisor & Foursquare Data (Renewed) by Clint Miller

Awkward, illogical and nevertheless very unreliable.

My first GPS device was a Garmin product. My choice was based on the recommendation of a work colleague who had full confidence in the brand and the device. His recommendation hit the mark. Over the last ten years I have purchased and/or used various Garmin GPS products with great success. This purchase was made to replace an unbranded Asian import that was crammed with gimmicks but didn't allow me to list my place of work or residence. At least not intuitively. Instead, I bought an entry-level Garmin Drive 51. Here's some of what I found out about this GPS device. 1.) Setup was easy. 2.) Target programming [Favorites] required some work. However, it was not possible to be remembered. 3.) The accuracy of the device is very poor. Several times the device failed to detect the simplest targets. For example public libraries near me. 4.) When you click on the favorites icon, the result is a single destination, not a list of saved favorites. 5.) A closed car charger is a closed unit. That means if the fuse blows, you'll have to replace the entire charger. I'm currently debating whether to return it or keep trying to figure out how to deal with the device's volatile nature. It's counter-intuitive and rather indirect, neither of which is my daily way of working. Let the buyer be alert. Garmin has made this entry-level device far less attractive and reliable than anything I've come across before. Too bad. - @dafigzโ„ข
