Electrify vintage watches and keep their character

I consider it sacrilegious to electrify a beautiful fully functional vintage watch. It's like putting an electric motor in a vintage Harley. It's just not right. But in cases where a watch cannot be wound regularly or others can damage it by trying to wind and set it (e.g. a holiday home), an electric movement like this can actually preserve the fragile original movement. I tried the basic electrical mechanism and just swinging the pendulum but the sight of a fixed pendulum but accurate time really bothered me. This kit works very well. It takes some time and experimentation to make the rod the right size for the pendulum to hang properly, but once you get it right, it works great! I straightened the paperclip and it worked perfectly. Note that the clock must be level and vertical and the movement of the pendulum rod must not be impeded in order for the pendulum to swing. A very faint tick - not as pronounced as a mechanical one, but most people will not miss a tick-tock. I bought three of these as spares and for those "problem" movements.
