I was so impressed with the $10 TCL Socl300 that I decided to see how much $40 I could get from TCL. I have to say they are not worth it. While they sound great and match well, the high-frequency response is reproduced too well. I appreciate the very high frequency response, allowing you to hear all the high-end detail that most cheaper headphones don't weakly reproduce, but it turned out to be overkill. I hear a very, very high pitched hiss and my ears get tired after a few minutes. He may get angry about the compression of the music, but it really worries me. Aside from the low distortion and limited high frequency response of the TCL Socl300 I would say I prefer the 1/4 price SOL300. The Sony MDR-EX110AP sound better and currently cost around $22.
