First impression: I did a lot of research when I bought this device. I used to use a flatbed scanner, which was tedious for double-sided and multi-page documents. After 1 day with this device and over 200 pdfs scanned I can confidently say this is the best scanner I have ever used. It took my document management workflow to the next level, allowing me to effortlessly scroll through the piles of documents piling up around the office. S510M vs S300M At first I was very torn between buying the S510M or this device. I decided it's better to have a smaller device, which takes up less office space when not in use, not to mention I rarely scan 50 pages in one go. I was a bit concerned that the small form factor would compromise speed and/or quality, but this device really delivers! The quality was top notch, much better than the tablet I've used before. I'm just amazed at how small it folds up - it's something that easily tucks away in a desk drawer when not in use. Software: The software that comes with the scanner is absolutely flawless. Once installed, the scanner is operated with a single button on the front of the scanner. Blank pages are automatically detected and skipped, the scanner also checks whether the document is in color or black and white (which can help optimize the PDF file size). Perhaps my favorite feature is that small items like receipts are automatically cropped to their actual size - a very efficient way of storing documents. I was very apprehensive about buying a non-TWAIN compliant device as it would limit the ability to control the scanner through third party software. Now I can say with confidence that Fujitsu's software is so good that I have little interest in controlling the device with third-party software - how much easier 1-click scanning is! Bed).
