I bought 5 of these to replace the RAID arrays in our POS systems. I had one that started clicking after a while, so toast. Since the 30-day return period had expired, I went to the manufacturer's website and wanted to apply. When I entered the serial number it said it was not a guarantee. I thought it was only a few months old, how can that be. Then I looked closely at the disc and realized it was produced in December 2012 and I only bought it in 2019, so this disc was made 7 years ago. I then checked other drives, most of which were made in 2013, so yes, they are not covered by the manufacturer's warranty. So yes the drives appear to be new and since I used them in a RAID I needed a drive that was exactly the same size so I'm glad I have them. But when you buy it, just keep in mind that you only get 30 days and then you're on your own.
