One would think that the problem with water jugs would be solved. Perhaps this is the case, but Brita is trying to reiterate that decision. Of course, as has become typical of this century's products, this iteration isn't beneficial to us, it's to them. The driving principle behind this product is thoughtful obsolescence. In particular, the attached lid is only held in place by friction between the thin plastic layer on the lid and the jug body itself. You have to more or less bend that thin plastic insert to put/take off the lid on the jug to fill it. Not only is it significantly more difficult than it should be with a task that has to be performed so frequently (filling a water jug), but it is obvious that this will eventually lead to lid fatigue. The lid will break on its own and lose its fixation, leaving you with another useless piece of plastic that you can throw in the sea in vain. but also felt the need not to develop their products for a significant period of time. If it breaks or the filter has expired I will replace it with another brand but I don't really hope something else will be much better.
