It was a waste of money. I didn't look at the lid when I filled it with water. I've never bought one that didn't have the lid on properly, so it never occurred to me to check. Look at the 4 pictures I posted and tell yourself. how can boiling hot steam not flow through a very large gap and burn my hand? It is impossible. I almost dropped the kettle! Steam was escaping from every square inch of this lid. It's a thin rubbery material. The glass is very thin, so God help you if you accidentally hit it. Don't buy this. See how many other reviews show broken glass and no lid working.
